Music

Immanuel's music program is rich and diverse, offering individual congregants numerous opportunities to serve God and the church with their talent and love of music.

Greg Hummel, Immanuel's long-time organist, provides musical leadership to the congregation in the playing of hymns and the liturgy. In addition, Greg offers for worship many of the major organ works by the masters of the German, as well as French, Baroque - music eminently suited to Immanuel's splendid tracker organ. Laurie Stivers, Associate Organist, leads the congregation musically during worship during Greg's absences and also accompanies both the Adult and Youth Choirs. Laurie's repertory includes music from the Baroque as well but also frequently includes music by eminent living Lutheran composers.

Immanuel Music News:

The Adult Choir will return to sing for the service on Sunday, September 12.

In May the Choir began practicing music for the special Hymn Festival which will be held September 26, 2010, to celebrate Pastor Senn's 20th anniversary at Immanuel.  New hymn arrangements are being composed by current and past Immanuel members.  The event will be open to the community and special guests will be invited.   A champagne reception will follow, similar to the kind of reception we have at the organ scholar concert.  Put this on your calendar now — you won't want to miss it!

The choir rehearses Wednesday evenings from 7:30 to 9:00 p.m.  Come join us!
